NY Lead Rental Registry Deadlines
May 3, 2026: Inspections must begin for all pre-1980 rental properties (2+ units) in designated communities.
October 1, 2026: First Lead Safety Certificates due.
Every 3 years: Re-inspection and re-certification required.
Properties without certification face $1,000 - $5,000 fines per violation.
State Grant Funding Available
New York State has awarded $40 million in grant funding across 20 counties to help landlords pay for lead inspections and remediation. Contact your local health department or ask us about funding that may apply to your property.

- Dust wipe sampling for lead dust hazards
